It’s Game Time

Game Breakdown

The main version of rugby is a 15-aside game with two 40 minute halves with a 5 to 10 minute half time interval. The rules of rugby limit Under 19 aged Rugby players to a maximum game time of 35 minutes for each half.

Rugby has limited stoppage of the clock and flows much more like soccer. A referee only stops the clock for injuries or other lengthy delays such as a player losing a boot. The referee is the sole judge of time and the amount of injury time in any given half depends on how often the ref stops his watch during the game.

it is unusual for there to be more than a couple of minutes of additional injury time and it is not added on at the end of the half like in soccer as the referee stops his/her watch when needed. This means a standard High School rugby game is over in no longer than 90 minutes.

High School- JV and Varsity Teams

High School aged players are asked to be at the nominated playing field at least 60 minutes before each game starts so this will need to be factored in when allowing for transport to a game.

Most games are played on Saturday mornings between 11am and 3pm. Games will be rotated around home fields of the major clubs.

All game info can be easily accessed via the Team Snap App (Apple and Android). Game Schedules

The playing schedule for each division is usually finalized in mid/late December before each season and is posted on our TeamSnap site. There are two ways to access the schedule:

The TeamSnap app can be downloaded at either the Apple Store or Google Play. Once it is downloaded you will need to log in using your TeamSnap email address and password. Once you are in the App, add the team(s) you wish to follow by clicking on Teams and searching for Red Mountain Knights Youth Rugby and then click on which of the 5 teams you wish to follow and then click on Favorite. This gives you access to the schedule from your phone or tablet and also you can get alerts if a game time or location changes and also the scores after the game.

Please note: some parents end up creating multiple accounts. Access to a team is based on what profile your player was added to a particular team’s roster. If your primary account is under the father’s email but we have your child on the roster under the the mother’s email address, then if you log in to the TeamSnap App under a different email address to the account we have added your child, then they won’t show up. ***Please note – you will not see anything on the app until your child is registered for this season and has been rostered onto a specific team***

Rugby Arizona website has the full draw and field assignments for the week are usually posted by Wednesday on the homepage.
